Systems Administrator (redIT)

Vacancy: Systems Administrator (redIT)

Location: Mowbray, Cape Town

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 Customer Management

  • Go to clients for project briefing, consultation, installation, and regular review sessions
  • Help out in managing customer demands to ensure maximum satisfaction, and to maintain quality over quantity
  • Engage in the negotiation of customer job demands and specifications and assist in creating comprehensive technical documents
  • Maintain customer infrastructure and infrastructure requirements

Quality Control

  • Evaluate all recommendations and solutions for consistency and accuracy
  • Evaluate project requirements for accuracy, and take the lead in setting project targets and priorities
  • Keep up to date with current industry standards to enhance service standards and product delivery
  • Attend technical training to keep updated with technical trends, procedures and applications, and other role requirements

 Assets Management and Procurement

  • License Renewals
  • Vendor Management
  • Maintain and review order process and assignment procedures for hardware specifications and allocations

 Infrastructure Management

  • Monitoring assets and infrastructure
  • Server room maintenance
  • Domain Management
  • Office security – Cameras and access control
  • Regular maintenance of the generator
  • Review and maintain UPS maintenance schedule
  • Networking and Wi-Fi maintenance and management
  • Ensure stable and reliable connectivity
  • Support and maintain development and test environments

 Desktop Support

  • Define and maintain desktop support strategy
  • Ensure all new starters receive equipment and the necessary software and set up

 Cloud Migrations

  • Review and refine cloud migration strategy
  • Facilitate moving on prem server infrastructure to suitable cloud equivalent
  • Understand cloud pricing structures and define cost effective solutions and budgets

 

CORE SKILLS/COMPETENCIES

Mandatory Skills / Abilities required to do the Job

Technical Skills

  • Office 365 Administration
  • Experience with task management tools
  • Cloud based infrastructure – Azure/AWS
  • Containerization
  • Windows and Linux server administration
  • Networking (VLAN, Virtual Networks
  • Firewall configuration and management
  • OS (Windows and Linux)
  • Server Support and Maintenance
  • Hardware and System configuration
  • Scripting and Automation
  • 3rd Party Vendor Management
  • Experience with Procurement, Asset Management
  • Experience with Server room Maintenance

 Personal Attributes / Character traits required for this job

  • Ability to pay attention to detail
  • Must be goal oriented
  • Ability to maintain focus.
  • Ability to meet deadlines

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Matric
  • IT Diploma/Degree
  • +5 years experience in an IT infrastructure management role
  • MCSE (N+, A+)Security qualifications
  • Experience with Cloud (Azure, AWS) Certifications
  • PM Certification will be advantageous
